Prestige Estates IPO Listing Day Steady Start: Late selling

Prestige Estates Projects Limited which had tapped the capital markets with its IPO to raise Rs 1200 crs listed on the bourses yesterday. The share listed at Rs 190 each on both the BSE and NSE. The high was Rs 209 on the BSE and Rs 208.80 on the NSE. The low was Rs 188.15 on the BSE and Rs 188.35 on the NSE.

The share had a steady start and then began its upward climb in a slow and steady manner. The share peaked at midday at around roughly 12.30 pm and thereafter it was a gradual fall with a sharp one in the last one hour. The low of the day was made in the last hour. From the chart pattern one would observe that the share has made an inverted saucer or umbrella like pattern which indicates that the stock was distributed in a planned manner.

The total traded volume on the stock was a shade over 400 lakhs which was 61% of the issue size of 655.73 lakh shares. The delivery volume was 129.46 lakh shares, which as a percentage of the traded volume was significant at 32.32% but as a percentage of IPO size was 19.74%. The weighted average of the day was slightly higher than Rs 199 while the closing price was Rs 192.55 on the BSE and Rs 193.15 on the NSE, indicating substantial selling pressure at the end of the day.

The issue had received poor response from the HNI and retail categories and remained unsubscribed in that segment. The overall subscription was 2.26 times. The issue has given a return to investors on day one and based on the weighted average of Rs 199, the same is of Rs 16 or about 8.7%.

On the institutional front there was activity where Oppenheimer Developing Market Fund bought 40 lakh shares. On the sell side Morgan Stanley sold 32.08 lakh shares and Swiss Finance Corporation sold 16.57 lakh shares. The net effect was that against a purchase of 40 lakhs there is a sale of 48.66 lakh shares implying a net sale of 8.66 lakh shares, insignificant considering the size of issue of 655 lakhs.

All in all a decent listing where investors have made gains. Going forward the share appeared to be under pressure and could weaken today.

Gyscoal Alloys IPO Listing day one: Flat opening, sharp upswing but selling thereafter

Share closes with gains of 15%

Gyscoal Alloys Limited which had tapped the capital markets with its IPO for 77 lakh shares listed yesterday on the bourses. The listing price on the BSE was Rs 76.60 and on the NSE Rs 75.15. The high was Rs 112.70 on the BSE and Rs 112.50 on the NSE. The low were the open itself. The share closed at Rs 81.55 on the BSE and Rs 81.65 on the NSE. The gain on the share was a healthy 10.55% and 10.65%.

The trading volume was huge and as much as 905.66 lakh shares were traded. This is 11.76 times the IPO issue size of 77 lakh shares. The total delivery volume was 63.09 lakh shares which as a percentage of the traded volume was a mere 6.97% but of the IPO size was 81.93%.

The weighted average of the share was Rs 97.25 which is significantly higher than the closing price of Rs 81.55, indicating tremendous selling pressure at the end of the day. From the chart it is apparent that in the last one hour there was one big dip in which the share fell sharply from around Rs 95-97 to just about Rs 80.

The issue was very heavily subscribed to by HNI’s and retail investors whose category was subscribed 33.44 times and 8 times respectively. This subscription helped the overall issue to be subscribed 8.59 times. Investors have made money in this issue and if one were to assume the weighted average as a base they have made Rs 26 per share or about 36%, which is excellent by all standards.

On the institutional side, there was sale by institutions of 19.79 lakh shares by funds like India Max, Cresta Fund, Somerset emerging Opportunity and Deutsche Securities. On the buying side there was no activity.

The share has had a great start and performed well. The selling pressure at the end indicates the weakness in the share and the difference in the weighted average and the delivery percentage to total IPO size indicates the weakness which is apparent in the share.

Prestige Estates IPO Listing Morning: Steady start and share holding

Prestige estates and Projects Limited which had tapped the capital markets with an IPO in the price band of Rs 172-183 to raise Rs 1200 crs listed today. The share listed at Rs 190 on both the exchanges and made a high of Rs 209 on the BSE and Rs 208.80 on the NSE. The low on the BSE was Rs 190 which was the open and Rs 189.85 on the NSE.

The first two hours of trade saw a total traded volume of 223.82 lacs which is roughly 34% of the IPO size of 6.55 cr shares. The share is holding itself and at the current time is trading just short of Rs 200 and is up Rs 16.30 or 8.9%.

In conclusion a good start and one hopes that the finish is as good as the start.
