BhartiInfratel Limited –QIB book oversubscribed, Retail HNI to close today

BhartiInfratel Limited (BIL) which had tapped the capital markets with a fresh issue of 14.62 cr shares and an offer for sale of 4.26 cr shares in a price band of Rs 210-240 was able to get adequate subscription for the entire issue when bidding by QIB’s closed on Thursday 13th December. The issue had opened on Tuesday the 11th December and would close for bidding for HNI’s and retail investors on Friday the 14th of December. Retail investors would be entitled to a discount of Rs 10 per share.

The issue would garner between Rs 3,967 crs at the lower end of the price band to Rs 4,534 crs at the top end of the price band. After the resounding success of the earlier two IPO’s namely CARE and PC Jeweller and also the OFS of NMDC, it would make sense for retail investors to skip this issue.

It seems most unlikely that the HNI and retail categories would get subscription equalling their bucket size.

The details of the subscription level in various categories are given below: –

QIB 66115000 187928700 2.84

NMDC –OFS is a success

The government offer for sale of 39,64,71,600 at a floor price was a great success. Data as per the BSE shows that there were bids for 73,24,79,476 shares. The indicative value of these bids cumulatively was Rs 149.18. The cut off price was Rs 148.50 against the floor price of Rs 147. This divestment has been a good success on a number of counts. Firstly the issue has been completed without using support from the state financial institutions. Secondly there was reasonable response from FII’s and also individual investors who felt that valuations are attractive at the offer price or floor price of Rs 147.

The success of this issue would prompt the government to come out with more divestment through the OFS route and the months of January-March should see half a dozen such issues. The proper pricing which is a key to the success of the issue would help the twin objects of achieving divestment and also ensuring that adequate price would ensure no selling pressure post divestment.

PC Jeweller Limited -Issue Subscribed, Receives very good response

PC Jeweller which had tapped the capital markets with a fresh issue of 451.33 lac shares at a price band of Rs 125-135was subscribed. The issue had opened on Monday the 10th of December and closed on Wednesday the 12th of December. The issue was to raise Rs 609.30crs from the fresh issue at the upper end of the price band.

The issue received excellent response and was subscribed 6.85 times with the best response coming from HNI’s. HNI’s subscribed to the offer 18.12 times while QIB’s subscribed almost 7.33 times. The retail category was subscribed 1.68 times. One must remember that allotment rules have been changed in the retail category and all applicants are first allotted the minimum lot before any surplus is allotted to other applicants. The total number of applications in this issue is about 1.84 lakhs which means that the average size per applicant is about 142 shares. The value of this application becomes Rs 18,000 against a normal average of Rs 1 lakh per application. The allotment to each successful applicant would be 90 shares and the ratio would be roughly 20 applicants out of 21 applicants. In other words it would be 1 for every 1.05 applications would get 90 shares and no applicant would get more than 90 shares. The issue would be priced at the upper end of the price band of Rs 135 with a discount of Rs 5 for retail investors. This issue is likely to list post-Christmas time but before the year ends.

The success of this issue, CARE and NMDC in the last two days indicates that if money is raised at reasonable prices there is appetite for fresh investment. Almost Rs 40,000 crs has been raised in three days by the three issues which include CARE, PCJ and NMDC.
